We offer a range of nutrition and dietetic services from individual consults, to corporate and group seminars, menu analysis and more. These services are offered in person, or via telehealth.

Dietitian & Nutritionist
Desi Carlos is the director and founder of Tree of Life Nutrition and has worked as a dietitian since 1993. Desi has a Bachelor of Applied Science, majoring in Biochemistry and Microbiology and a Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics.
Her passion is giving practical advice on incorporating healthy eating habits into everyday life. Desi is a mother of three, and business woman who understands the pressures that our busy, modern lives can put on our diets and eating habits.
You can hear her regularly sharing her expertise on 97.3Fm as resident dietitian for Robin, Terry & Bob; see her on Channel 7, 9 and 10 News as a nutrition expert; or read some of her many articles in a host of journals, magazines. You can also hear her lectures on a range of topics from The Mediterranean Diet, healthy-living and fighting obesity, to issues of diabetes, heart disease, coeliac disease, women’s health, endometriosis, gut health, irritable bowel syndrome & food intolerances.
Desi’s message is simple; “eat well, feel good, look great!” With this philosophy and wealth of industry experience, Desi has helped thousands of people rediscover themselves with increased confidence and self-esteem.
Desi’s specialist interests
Desi’s special interest areas are Gastrointestinal disorders including IBS and Coeliac Disease, Allergies and Intolerances, Chronic Disease management, Weight, Cholesterol and Diabetes management. She has assisted The Queensland Coeliac Society for over 15 years, lending her experience as an expert dietitian and acting as media spokesperson in nutrition for the organisation.
Desi is a specialist Dietitian in nutritional management for Fertility and Obstetrics. Desi specialises in the Nutritional management of PCOS, endometriosis, gestational diabetes, preconception and conception. She also presents and consults on topics relating to pain management of endometriosis using the anti inflammatory diet, improved gut health and identifying food intolerances.
Mediterranean Diet Specialist Dietitian
Desi is a co-author of ‘The Mediterranean Diet – the Lifestyle of Eating” and ’‘Mediterranean Eating Cook.Eat.Live’. As a champion for the Mediterranean Diet you will see her frequently offering lectures and cooking demonstrations on the nutrition science that encompasses Cooking Mediterranean: Eating Well: Living Long. Desi can also incorporate those principles of the mediterranean diet into patient current eating practices. This offers an enjoyable, sustainable and culturally-rich guide to Mediterranean eating.
Microbiology and diet
With a microbiology background and training in The Microbia Insights Course, Desi has a unique and effective treatment plan for improving the balance of the gut microbiome. A healthy microbiome allows for improved immunity, improved mental health and decreased inflammation. The Mediterranean Diet supplies both the pre and probiotics required to keep this improved gut microbiome healthy. Desi’s nutritional expertise in both finds the perfect balance to treat autoimmune and inflammatory conditions lending itself heavily to better health outcomes and fulfilling her motto of eat well, look good, FEEL GREAT!

Eleni has a Bachelor degree in Health Science majoring in Nutrition and a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Eleni’s Greek heritage afforded a strong Mediterranean lifestyle which surrounded her by delicious food, embarking on a career based on food seemed only natural! Eleni is a strong believer in the power of food and is passionate about spreading this message to the wider community.
The emphasis placed on social outings and the time-poor nature of the community sometimes make it difficult to maintain a healthy balance however Eleni has a thorough understanding of the needs of today’s society and aims to steer away from fad diets and trends and instead promotes good, wholesome eating that can be tailored to each person’s needs to create sustainable nutrition choices.
The diverse nature of Eleni’s experience in the industry makes her a perfect candidate for any individual, at any level of health to find their medicine through food. She has had experience working with a wide variety of clientele, broad community projects, clinical and general settings as well as schools and youth programs.
Fantastic communication and social skills provide Eleni with a unique ability to rapidly create rapport and trust between client and practitioner. She can tailor nutrition advice to address specific areas such as weight management and general health with a particular interest in chronic disease management and prevention.
Wade is an accredited exercise physiologist whose journey into the health and fitness industry began from his own weight loss achievement of 23kg. This accomplishment inspired Wade to want to help others with their health and fitness goals in the same way.
Having been in the industry for over a decade now, Wade has experience working in a variety of different settings such as gyms, clinics and in the community. Wade’s original goal was to complete a degree in physiotherapy, however throughout his studies, his focus and passion changed into wanting to help people through exercise. Throughout Wade’s years of work and study, he developed a particular interest in injury prevention, exercise for chronic disease and resistance training.
Wade has recently completed his Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology, which has provided the skills and knowledge to help a wider variety of people in need.
To keep himself fit, Wade enjoys playing basketball regularly, riding his bike, keeping his body strong with resistance training and chasing his little Chihuahua around the dog parks.

Marketing Assistant, Dietitian & Nutrition Student
Eleni manages Tree of Life Nutrition’s social media and email newsletter marketing as well as working behind the scenes in the clinic. She began studying a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2018 after deciding to follow her passion for food and health science. Through her studies, she has gained an understanding of how valuable good nutrition is in living a fulfilling and healthy life.
Eleni’s amiable personality and desire to build rapport with patients has driven her to strive for a future career in private practice. She is especially interested in women’s health and the ways in which nutrition can help manage associated conditions.
As a self-proclaimed ‘foodie’, Eleni loves to experiment in her kitchen, test out new restaurants and catch up with friends over brunch.
Maria has been the Practice Manager at Tree of Life Nutrition for over 10 years. Maria has a special interest in nutrition and is always ready to welcome you at the reception desk at our Woolloongabba clinic.
In her spare time Maria loves to travel and enjoys the outdoors for the therapeutic properties of the sun & sea.
